It took time but Rapunzel eventually washed the blood from her just face. The aching between her legs still remained, every pang reminding her of the nightmare.
Her hands scrubbed at the floor violently, the sponge not soaking enough to satisfy her. The aching sobs had faltered long ago, however the misery hadn’t yet bled through yet.
Rapunzel had considered picking up the phone and calling Hiccup. However her hands betrayed her and called the person she hadn’t spoken to for so long; her father.
The phone rang for about twenty seconds before a strong and confident voice came from the other end of the line. “Hello? Stoick Haddock here.”
Words had never come easily to Rapunzel before while talking to her father. It was mostly filled with forced “how are you’s” and “It’s nice to talk to you.” Instead she finally found equally strong words. “D-Dad?”
“Who is this?” she was shocked by how generally curious he sounded.
“I-It’s me Rapunzel.”
“Oh Rapunzel! It seems like I saw you only yesterday.”
“Dad I haven’t spoken to you in months. Not since Hiccup moved here.” Her hands held onto the phone for dear life, she was still naked and covered in blood.
“Oh…Sorry dear. I’ve been caught up at work. But Gobber’s been asking about you.” He said with a chipper attitude.
But why haven’t you been asking about me?
“Daddy…I need to talk-”
“Punzie you haven’t called me daddy since you were five. How’s Hiccup by the way? Is he trying more sports like I suggested? He’s not kept up in his room is he? That boy’s going to go blurry eyed from staring at the computer screen for too long.” He talked on like he had all the time in the world. That was Stoick, he could talk for hours even during a tornado.
“Dad, please. I’m trying to talk to you about something important. I-”
“Of course dear. But I’m so busy right now. I have a meeting at four.”
“Dad, its two-”
“Try my work phone tomorrow. I love you sweetheart.”
“Dad, wait.”
“What is it dear? Please make it quick.”
“Go fuck yourself.”
The phone flew from her hands and crashed into pieces against the wall. Rapunzel tugged at her hair and screamed for what felt like an hour. Rapunzel’s already sore throat felt like it was on fire. Eventually she switched to light sob’s; swallowing every once and a while to bring some moisture back into her throat.
Her trembling and abused body collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
“Useless.” She said almost in chant repeatedly. “Useless.”
When she was young, Rapunzel heard a poem that her teacher read in school. “Silence is a true friend who never betrays.” Rapunzel had no friends or family who she could tell this suffering to. So Silence would have to do.
