It was five o'clock A.M. The sky outside was completely dark, casting strange shadows on the walls that Dipper paid no mind to. He had been trying to sleep for hours upon hours on end but nothing seemed to help. His mind just kept drifting back to the conversation he had with Gary only hours before. His wet clothes still clung to his body from the rain. He hadn't bothered to change. He had saw no point. He had promised his sister he would keep trying but Gary was refusing to work with him and he couldn't stand it.
"I did nothing wrong," he whispered, more to make himself feel better. Rain pounded on the windows and lightening flashed, illuminating the mess of purple and blue flowers hat grew in his window box, causing his mind to flash back to something Mabel had said.
"Have you ever complimented his eyes or his personality? Ever bought him flowers?"
Dipper quickly sat up in his bed. "Thats it," he whispered, throwing back the covers. He decided to give it one last shot and if it didn't work this time... well he was just going to have to move on. He grabbed the red umbrella Gary had given him and ventured out into the mud to retrieve the flowers. He gathered exactly twelve and bound their stems together with a red ribbon.
Dipper stumbled around in the kitchen until he found the light switch and once he did he grabbed a flashlight from the drawer after scrawling three little words, I love you, on a stick note that he then attatched to the flowers. It took him half an hour to find Gary's house in the rain, guided by his flashlight. The house seemed to be dark, meaning he wouldn't be caught.
"Please let this work.." he whispered, laying the flowers and note on the porch before disappearing into the night once more. Hopefully he could sleep now.
